  CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: Babylonia
East of the Euphrates, the southernmost town was Larsa, the Biblical Ellasar (Genesis 14; in Vulg.
In North Babylonia we have again, southernmost, the city of Kish, probably the Biblical Cush (Genesis 10:8); its ruins are under the present mound El-Ohemir, eight miles east of Hilla.
The derivation in Genesis rests upon the similarity of sound with a word formed from the root balal, "to stammer", or "be confused".

 Bible Chronology
Genesis 1:2, 3 says: "And God's active force was moving to and fro over the surface of the waters.
Genesis 1:11 says: "And God went on to say: 'Let the earth cause grass to shoot forth, vegetation bearing seed, fruit trees yielding fruit according to their kinds, the seed of which is in it, upon the earth.'"
Genesis 7:11 says that the "floodgates of the heavens were opened." The waters that were suspended in the upper atmosphere above the earth during the second creative day begin to pour down upon the earth, possibly as if through floodgates into channels, such as at the poles, and also as rainfall.

The account given in Genesis does not oppose this theory but goes back even further before "God created the heavens and the earth" (Gen 1:1) and His hand, "stretched out the heavens" (Isa 48:13) showing us the creator of the big bang itself (origin and intelligent design)
The terms seen in Genesis are phrased in such a way that God had the waters and earth bring forth His creation.
The stone used as Jacob's pillow is shown to be the same stone that is referenced as Christ when Moses was leading the House of Israel out of Egypt and shown as the chief cornerstone that was rejected and is now used in the ceremony of crowning the Kings and Queens of England.

The Babylonian king Nabonassar (747-734) established a lunar calendar (354 days, with 7 leap months over a 19-year period to keep it accurate); it was adopted by the Jews during the Babylonian captivity, with all the month names unchanged, thus becoming the Jewish calendar of today.
We don't have a detailed history of the pre-Flood world in Genesis because that was not the purpose of its writing; the word of God is for the saving of our spirit first, and everything else we use the Bible for comes second.

With the primitive way that the lives of men and the events in their lives were recorded, it is inconceivable that the person who wrote it got it right, unless Yahweh inspired it.
Genesis 28:10-15 - Jacob had a vision 4000 years ago that the Jews would be scattered worldwide, that they would have a worldwide impact, and that they would be brought back to Israel.
In Genesis 1:1 it states, "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth..." If there is only one God, then the only way God the Father and Jesus could both make the universe is if they are one and the same God (YHWH).
