Gondi refers to a people and their language in central India.
The Gondi, or Gond people are spread over the states of Madhya Pradesh, eastern Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, northern Andhra Pradesh, and western Orissa.
These individuals became teachers who taught in Gondi, and their efforts enjoyed a measure of success until the 1970s, when state policy demanded instruction in Telugu.

Gondi is returned by 47,446 persons or 3.7 per cent of the population which is less by 1.9 per cent to that of 1931 and 0.5 to that of 1951.
The increase in the percentage of Sindhi speakers who constituted 0.85 per cent of the population at the 1951 Census is due to the influx of Sindhi displaced persons into the State after partition.

In January of 1617, Vincent was on the Gondi estates in Picardy, and heard the confession of a dying man, who told Madame de Gondi that he would have been damned without Vincent's ministry.
By December, 1617, Madame de Gondi prevailed in her request that Vincent return to their family by giving him freedom to preach missions in various towns and villages.
