	Gondophares (the palm leaf)
		Based on the reports of Damis, a native of Mesopotamia, who was linguist and diarist, we have a detailed report of the life of Gondophares, an Indo-Parthian king in Taxila.
		Gondophares, who ruled while Jesus Christ was alive, is also mentioned in early Christian texts, especially in connection with St. Thomas.
		John Keay notes that the word referred in the Acts of St Thomas was actually 'Gudnaphar' and it bears coincidental resemblance to Gondophares, the name found in the coins.

		So it would seem that this inscription testifies to the existence of an era begun in the first half of the first century BC, which is in use in the Taxila region at the start of the first century AD.
		If this inscription is referred to the Azes era then Sodasa would have to rule in c.10 BC or c.25 AD (give or take due to the difficulties in fixing the Azes era).
		What is clear is that Sodasa cannot be dated using the Azes or the Saka era, and that 42 and 72 are too high to be the reign of the king.

		One of the Parthian leaders was named Gondophares, king of Taxila (pictures); according to an old and wide-spread Christian tradition, he was baptized by the apostle Thomas.
		The story is not impossible: adherents of several religions lived together in Gandara and the Punjab, and there may have been an audience for a representative of a new Jewish sect.
