Gonnect was invented on July 18, 2000 by João Neto, a 30-year-old professor of Computer Science at Sao Paulo, Brazil, who is currently finishing his Ph.D. on Artificial Neural Nets.
However, Gonnect has a very elegant mechanism for resolving deadlocks: due to the "no pass" rule, at least one of the deadlocked chains will be captured at a later stage of the game, freeing up space for the battle to continue.
We cannot assert that Gonnect is superior to either of these great games, but it does combine some of the best elements from both to produce a rich game with unique and deep strategies that is most enjoyable to play and has great scope for further study.

Gonnect turns out not to be only a territory-grabbing game, with connection theme being only secondary in importance.
Although Go and Gonnect have even more in common than I at first though--in the end, it is the player who constructs the strongest groups who wins, regardless of how the win condition is defined.
In contrast the placement of pieces in Gonnect is critical from the very first move (as in Hex!) and a weak move can be attacked directly from the second move.

On a 13x13 board, the two players of Gonnect try to be the first to create a connected chain of stones between any two opposite board sides (east-west or north-south) or his adversary has no valid move.
The rules of Go apply except that players cannot pass.
There is also the PIE rule: Ohs may choose as his 1st move, to exchange places with Eks

Gonnect is a board game which could be described as the of Go and Hex.
The player who has made smallest amount of territory will presumably get first so building more territory than your is a secondary (but extremely common) means forcing a connection and the win.
Although it shares many of the same as go some players feel that gonnect a more interesting opening and endgame than

This is a friendly, safe meeting place (mostly) for hundreds of players around the world, creating an excellent forum for trying out new games and discussing new ideas with like-minded people.
Gonnect is an abstract board game similar to Go except that: (a) players win by connecting opposite sides of the board with an unbroken chain of their pieces; and (b) neither player can pass.
Gonnect has been my favourite game for quite some time, offering huge scope for strategy and entertaining variation in play.

 TSN: Alt.Autos.Saab: Re: in-line block heater for 92 900T
The tank heater circulates coolant by convection which means the hoses must be short and vertical.
The original installation method was to gonnect the intake of the tank to a drain plug hole in the engine block and the outlet to a "T" in one of the heater hoses.
Even with such a direct routing the flow wasn't always reliable, this sometimes led to hardening of the upper hose.

 Gonnect
Gonnect is a board game in the style of Go, but with an emphasis on connection rather than territory.
It combines the simplicity and clarity of Hex with the tactical richness of Go, and simplifies the Go rules while introducing new and substantial strategies.

We have chosen a small set of games, leaving the remaining few behind, with the justification that is easier to pick a game to play from a small number of good options than from a greater number of average choices.
The latter is a very good alternative Go variant, giving a tactical goal that can be used to increase the drama and interest in the opening stage, as well as a "cold" post-endgame stage, adding extra layers to Go.
Another way to play Go on a hexagonal board is to use the Gonnect rules, making HexGonnect.
