Arguments and Their Evaluation | University of Northern Colorado
A rationally compelling argument is a good argument in the strict sense of the term all of the premises of which are known to be true and for the falsity of the conclusion of which there is no argument that is equally good.
The goodness of arguments has to do with the goodness of the reasons they contain for thinking that their conclusions are true, not just with the truth of those conclusions.
The argument consisting of the last two premises and the conclusion is itself a strong inductive argument, and it’s only the presence of this little sub-argument in the larger argument (the one that consists of all seven premises and the conclusion) that makes the larger argument a strong inductive argument.

 Logical Consequence
A good argument is one whose conclusions follow from its premises; its conclusions are consequences of its premises.
Perhaps an argument is valid if it is (metaphysically) impossible for the premises to be true and the conclusion to be untrue, valid if — holding fixed the interpretations of premises and conclusion — in every possible world in which the premises hold, so does the conclusion.
Arguments to a conclusion from no premises whatsoever are those in which the conclusion is true by logic alone.

 SL-lec1.html
An argument is invalid if and only if there is a possible case in which the premises are true and the conclusion is false.
If the point of using an argument is to convince someone of the truth of the conclusion, then the argument will be a good tool for this only the premises are in fact true.
There are also arguments in which the premises lend some support to the conclusion even though the arguments are not deductively valid in this sense (that is to say, the truth of the premises does not guarantee the truth of the conclusion).

Validity and Soundness [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
According to the definition of a deductive argument (see the entry on Deduction and Induction), the author of a deductive argument always intends that the premises provide the sort of justification for the conclusion whereby if the premises are true, the conclusion is guaranteed to be true as well.
This argument is invalid, and all invalid arguments are unsound.
It might also be suggested, especially with the first argument, that while (even without the additional premise) there is a necessary connection between the premise and the conclusion, the sort of necessity involved is something other than "logical" necessity, and hence that this argument (in the simple form) should not be regarded as logically valid.

 Philosophical Terms and Methods
An equivocation is a bad form of argument where one of the key terms can be understood in two ways, and the plausibility of the argument depends on reading the term differently in different premises.
A good rule of thumb is the following: if an argument contains a premise or step that would not be accepted by a reasonable person who is initially prone to doubt the argument's conclusion, then the argument begs the question.
In an argument of this sort, P and R are called "the horns" of the dilemma.

 argument from design
The argument has been criticized for begging the question: it assumes the universe is designed in order to prove that it is the work of a designer.
The argument also suppresses evidence: for all its beauty and grandeur, the universe is also full of, well, to be delicate, let us say that the universe is also full of nasties.

Thus fallacious arguments are often divided into two kinds: those that are mistaken because they don't meet the truth-of-reasons requirement (or, virtue), and those that are mistaken because they don't meet the properly-related-to-conclusion requirement (or, virtue).
Sometimes a simple argument that is fallacious can be expanded into a good argument by the provision of additional reasons; and sometimes it can't be.
Arguments that fit these two invalid argument forms are considered fallacious, because they each meet the two main requirements for a fallacy: 1) They are commonplace types of reasoning, and 2) they are likely to fool people.
