		Goodhue County (764 square miles) is situated between the rapidly growing regions of the Twin Cities Metro and Rochester/Olmsted County.
		Goodhue County is blessed with beautiful scenery ranging from historic agricultural landscapes such as the Sogn Valley in the southwest portion of the County to the Cannon River Valley (a state wild and scenic river) to the dramatic bluffs along the Mississippi River.
		My work with Goodhue County is the second opportunity I have had in my career to organize a new planning department and I am enjoying the professional challenge of developing systems, motivating staff and educating the public and public officials on the value of planning.

		The Goodhue County Jail has lowered its inmate housing rates for Winona County from $65 per day to $55 per day, giving Winona County some cost savings as it grapples with a crowded jail at West Third Street.
		On Tuesday, Winona County had 28 inmates locked up at its jail and 21 of its 54 inmates locked up in Goodhue County, at a new cost of $1,155 per day — as opposed to $1,365 per day under the old rate.
		The county pursued a plan last year to remodel the basement of the Law Enforcement Center, 201 W. Third St., to hold 48 minimum-security inmates.
