	Three Movie Buffs Review The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) Starring: Geena Davis, Samuel L. Jackson, Yvonne Zima
		Another interesting angle to this movie is that it was made in 1996.
		I’m confused by Eric’s comments about this movie being “something for you ‘blame America first’ crowd to think about.” Unless he means it as a way of supporting conspiracy theory’s, which, knowing my brother I don’t think he does.
		And the fact that she was 40 years old when she starred in The Long Kiss Goodnight just goes to show that casting directors shouldn’t rush to the 20-somethings every time they cast a female lead.

	Long Kiss Goodnight, The
		This is when the movie turns into a technical “kerosene dreams extravaganza” in which any attempt at emotional sympathy is useless (and unfortunately it exists in some places) and there’s a clear and fulfilled area for sarcastic one-liners, “leave reality at the door” type shoot-out scenes and grand explosions.
		The Movie: As you might have guessed, I have only one major beef with this movie and that is its never ending quest for somewhat involving an emotional content while trying to make it survive in the middle of all its campiness and “all for one-liners” attitude.
		It doesn’t fit the movie and normally I wouldn’t have a problem with it but some of it goes on too long (like the scene where Samantha’s daughter comes back to her).

		Okay, so sometimes I call this movie "The Long Kiss Goodbye" instead of "The Long Kiss Goodnight," but that does not detract from the fact this is one of my favorite action films from the post-"Die Hard" era (yes, more than "Speed").
		The movie is filled with suspense and plot twists, but its strongest points are the action scenes.
		Many movies of this type get bogged down in explosion after explosion (like "Lethal Weapon 4"), but "The Long Kiss Goodnight" manages to keep its momentum throughout the entire movie.

		Craig Bierko was neither funny or threatening as the villain, and that is the tip-off to a bad (as in BAD bad) movie.

		Marilyn Monroe's name is once again dragged through the mud as Larry Buchanan writes and directs this film that purports to answer once and for all what happened to her that night in August of 1962.
		This Norma Jean stuff is atrocious, since Buchanan obviously did not have the budget to recreate the 1940's (Ponti looks like a "Saturday Night Fever" extra, and watch for one of Norma Jean's fellow YWCA girls sporting a Farrah Fawcett 'do).
		Suicide attempts, nudie flicks, pulp rag covers, sexual predators, it is a wonder the poor woman ever made a movie at all, if this film is to be taken as the absolute truth.

		In The Long Kiss Goodnight, the helmet is amnesia and the psyche within is one hundred eighty degrees the opposite of frail.
		Were Cranky able to set his own price for The Long Kiss Goodnight, he would have paid.

		Which is what kills any chance this movie has of being a great action movie.

		Jackson and Davis really seem to have on-screen chemistry that sees them play off each other nicely and while you know there will never be any bed play, their developing friendship is touching.
		The support cast in The Long Kiss Goodnight is excellent.
		The terrific British actors Patrick Malahide and Brian Cox lead the way but David Morse, who seems to have taken a real turn in character direction, is in no way overshadowed.
