When she was an infant, Googoosh's father divorced from her mother and due to patriarchal custody laws in Iran, she moved with her father to Tehran.
She began acting for the royal court of the Shah at the age of four and was warmly welcomed by the former empress, Soraya.
At the age of 20, Googoosh took part in various international music festivals and won the first prize and golden record for her French numbers, "Retour de la vie" and "J'entends crier Je t'aime", at the Cannes Festival in 1971.

If you are a Googoosh fan, you might not think much of this feat, but to put it in perspective, no other non-European singer was included in the album and everyone at the festival marveled at the quality of the singer's voice and her ability to sing in perfect Italian and Spanish!

We, the undersigned, are fans of the Iranian Diva, Googoosh, who according to law has been provisionally banned to perform on the stage for being accused of breaching her contract.
On Dec 17th 2004, only eight days before the date of her concert in Las Vegas when Googoosh has been informed that she wouldn’t be able to perform on the stage, she eventually decided to get all her grief off her chest and talk to people.
This strong hatred is not just because of what they’ve done to Googoosh and how they abused her trust and fill their pockets, but it’s also because they are agents of Islamic Republic of Iran according to existing documents and are known as traitors nationwide.
