Tonight I speak in particular on behalf of the Goolmangar Public School Parents and Citizens Association and the teachers and students of the Goolmangar Primary School, who have sought my assistance and that of the Lismore City Council to approach the Minister for Roads, the Hon.
Goolmangar school would be typical of many country schools; they are not situated on long, straight roads.
A greater proportion of the school students of the Goolmangar Public School are transported to school by parents' vehicles because of a lack of school bus services to Hayden Road.

Local instructor James Wright was very pleased with the efforts of his students and grateful to Grandmaster Suh for coming to Goolmangar.

It was my pleasure to attend the official opening the town’s newest youth facility, which is a major achievement for the Kyogle townspeople.
As a result of raising this important safety issue during Parliament, I have received advice from RTA Sydney that the speed zone will be reduced to 40km/h at Goolmangar School.
Lismore Council will undertake arrangements for the installation of signs and correction of existing patches.

A milk-price war between Coles and Woolworths has local dairy farmers the losers from the outset, according to Norco chairman Greg McNamara.
Speaking from his 76-hectare dairy property at Goolmangar, an angry Mr McNamara said that a cut in the price of Woolworths’ own-brand milk would eventually force Norco to follow suit.

This again emphasises the isolation of Nimbin from Lismore and how Nimbin town-ship is a “natural centre” to its catchment - with a network of small winding roads from the surrounding rugged country.
Note also the road that winds south towards Lismore close to Goolmangar creek.
It is prone to flooding and traffic hold-ups by dense fog.
