Ying Tong: A Walk with the Goons - Arts Reviews - Arts - Entertainment
The crux of the play is Milligan's mental breakdown in 1960, brought on predominantly by the pressure of writing Goons scripts for nine years.
Biggins displays a splendid capacity to move between renditions of Goons characters such as Major Dennis Bloodnok and Bluebottle and Sellers's oft-concealed self, while James ably inhabits the Welsh comic's good-hearted character and unwavering vigour in the face of Milligan's distressing mental frailties.
Goons lovers will find a sensitively wrought and deftly played exploration of a much-missed comic team and the extraordinary gifts of an exceptional man's wounded mind.
