 THR - Question for military minds:Goosestepping, to what end?
I'm watching the news tonight, and it occurs to me that the only armies (to my knowledge) that choose to "goosestep" are those that serve tyrannical, totalitarian regimes.
Goosestepping has the same effect on the troops.
It builds their confidence and cohesion because it is hard to do, noisy, and gratifying when perfectly executed.

And last but not least you friggin pervert.....your picture looks like it is from 1943,it is not just the style of the picture and if you are 22 you have a rough life ahead of you.
People are curious as to why you would use a name that has an obviously negative connotation to it.

Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ukraine, Bielorussia, Russian Federation, Poland, those are the countries that still use the goosestep for their marching soldiers and nobody complaint.
I like to see soldiers goosestepping, it looks way better than the way the Japanese soldiers marched.
It's obviously shunned because when people see Germans goosestepping they cry "NAZI!" You won't see the Roman salute anytime soon either, and the swastika isn't just an ancient symbol of good fortune.

The Sun, a British tabloid newspaper, has a very interesting story about how German police plan to deal with soccer hooligans (British or otherwise) who give Nazi salutes or goosestep at the World Cup, which will be held in Germany this summer.
