The officers held him in detention for five hours yesterday and forced him to write a statement acknowledging the falsity of a recent article he wrote criticizing the poor living conditions for soldiers in a military unit in the northwestern region of Goranboy.
The article, which was published on January 29, 2004, outlined corruption by military commanders and psychological abuse of soldiers, as well as lack of food and heating and poor combat preparedness.
The press release said the journalist was invited to the military headquarters for a conversation in response to the "libelous and insulting military article." In the process of the conversation, the release said, Hasanov admitted that the article was false and that he had never visited the Goranboy military unit.

The experts were previously expected to examine the Ganja airport and then leave for the Gazakh and Aghstafa districts, some 500 west of Baku, but decided to visit the Garabagh region first.
After meeting executive officials in Goranboy, the OSCE representatives reviewed several sites that could be potentially used to station peacekeepers.

Summer camp participants are child mine survivors and children from mine-survivor families that also include IDPs from the mine contaminated areas along the front line.
Between the end of July and the beginning of September, two summer camps, operating at the Goranboy boarding school, will provide the war-affected children with an opportunity to improve their social interaction skills, receive information on mine risk and will help to facilitate their integration into society.

The first two programs: Integrated Community Development Program (ICDP) and Economic Opportunities Development Program (EO) are focused on the eight regions (Mingachevir, Ganja, Goranboy, Terter, Yevlakh, Agdam, Barda, Agjabedi) of the Central Area.
The goal of this program, which began on the 1st of October 2004, is to promote social integration and community capacity to care for vulnerable children in Azerbaijan.

The children taking part in the summer camps have either survived landmine explosions or are the children of mine-survivor families that also include internally displaced people from land contaminated by mines in this area.
