Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, between 1936 and 1942 he was part of one of hockey's most prolific scoring lines as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Drillon played only seven seasons in the NHL, six with Toronto and one with the Montreal Canadiens.
Gordie Drillon passed away in Saint John, New Brunswick in 1986 and was interred there in the Ocean View Memorial Gardens cemetery.

Moncton, New Brunswick's favorite son Gordie Drillon, a big, strong, fast winger who thought road trips to New York were invented so he could do Manhattan with aspiring Broadway actresses.
Drillon played only seven seasons in the NHL, six with Toronto and one with the Montreal Canadiens, but he still managed to score 155 goals for an annual average of 22.2.
Drillon won his first, and only Stanley Cup, in the 1942 Miracle at Maple Leaf gardens when Toronto spotted Detroit an 0-3 lead in the series, and stormed back to win the last four games and the Cup, the only time that has happened in NHL history.

Drillon and Syl Apps formed one of hockey's most prolific scoring combinations with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the late 1930s and early 1940s.
One reason for their success was that they practiced together for hours, against goalie Turk Broda, with Apps shooting and Drillon deflecting the puck into the net.
Drillon won the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's top scorer in the 1938-39 season, when he had 52 points on 26 goals and 26 assists, many of the goals coming on deflections.

 Gordon "Gordie" Drillon (1914 - 1986) - Find A Grave Memorial
A native of Moncton, New Brunswick, Drillon played for teams in the EHL, IAHL, NHL, QPHL, and the MSHL Hockey Leagues.
At 6'00", and 186lbs, Drillon played the position of Right Wing for the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets from 1935 to 1936, Syracuse Stars from 1936 to 1937, Toronto Maple Leafs from 1936 to 1942, Montreal Canadiens from 1942 to 1943, Valleyfield Braves from 1944 to 1945, and the Saint John Beavers from 1949 to 1950.
Drillon was inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame in 1970, Hockey Hall of Fame in 1975 as a Player, Moncton Sports Hall of Fame in 1983, and the Canada Sports Hall of Fame in 1989.

Moncton native Gordie Drillon played seven seasons in the National Hockey League, six with the Toronto Maple Leafs and one with the Montreal Canadiens.
The 1937-38 season saw Drillon capture the Lady Byng Trophy, and the Art Ross Trophy and be selected to the First All Star Team.
In 1938-39 he was again selected to the First All Star Team, and in 1941-42 the Second All Star Team, that same season having his name engraved on the Stanley cup as a member of the Maple Leafs.

Young Don Metz was added and Hank Goldup was reinserted into the lineup while veterans Gordie Drillon and Bucko McDonald didn't dress, drastic moves made by a desperate team.
But the strategy paid off — although the Red Wings leapt into a 2-0 lead in the second period, the Leafs roared back and tied the score by the end of that stanza.
