The album was a massive success in Canada, where it topped the album charts for 8 weeks and sold over a million copies.

GORDON MACRAE IN CONCERT album review
Gordon can be regarded at the height of his vocal powers here, tempered by extraordinary taste and interpretative skills whereby he employed an astonishing vocal and dynamic range sliding from caressing softness to fortissimo without jarring the ear.
What the album appears to be is a collection of "showstoppers" that he may have found successful in his concerts.
Gordon is assured, uses the whole of his vocal armory and shows a sensitivity that is absent in most other artists’ interpretations of the "big song".

 OUR LOVE STORY album review
Gordon and his wife Sheila had in the late 50’s (1958) and early 60’s embarked upon a series of nightclub tours.
The concept of the album is to follow a couple from their first meeting, their courtship, their marriage and honeymoon, through to the rearing of children to a reaffirmation of love and to their anniversary.
Van Alexander, who was musical director in Gordon and Sheila’s act and all of his post-Carousel recordings, contributes atmospheric arrangements which highlight the voices and underpin the mood of the album and lyrics without being obtrusive.

I discovered this artist and this album by accident and was made richer for the experience.
And its appearance immediately after the original tune is the one true weak point of this album for me. I think that this cut would have been better positioned if it was reserved as the albums last track.
Gordon shows a lot of range in his playing, blowing fast and switching gears, and pulling rhythmic punches.

Gordon confided in one of his colleagues: "It was a terrifying experience, going to the studio, using my voice like a technical instrument and not experiencing the song, especially not Kangaroo.
With this album, the group created a sound similar to the second part of "IN THIS WORLD": arid and minimal, with piano and atmospheric sounds painting a soundscape in the image of the sleeve: a sepia forest both sombre and torn by a wintry light.
This album is a renaissance: the voice returns more troubled and present than ever, while the instrumentation of guitar-bass-drums impose themselves anew in the breast of the atmospheric sounds.

Originally put out on Jazzland, this important recording was a comeback album by the great tenor Dexter Gordon, who had (with the exception of a couple of occasions in 1955) been largely off-record since 1952.
Because of the large amount of Dexter Gordon recordings from his later years, this collection is not essential but fans should enjoy it.

The simultaneous release of two new John Foxx albums is made all the sweeter by the fact that the two are utterly different.

Gordon Lightfoot nonetheless retains the respect of his contemporaries, although his profile lessened quite considerably during the 80s.

For the album, the band creates a synth-heavy rock work that is unlike anything else they had ever recorded before or would ever record in their future.
Although the album is divided into several tracks, it is really easiest to think of the release as a single work - all of the songs fade right into one another.
Also, this album seems to be MUCH harder to find than the band's other albums, probably due in no small part to it never getting the proper credit.

Long before the first rehearsals of The Stray Cats and the numerous rockabilly bands that followed, Robert Gordon reinvented the rockabilly sound of the '50s and introduced it to the punk rock audiences of the '70s.
The label is famous for painstakingly detailed reissues of folk, country and rockabilly catalogs by artists that are highly respected in those genres, and it realized the brilliance of Gordon early on.
Gordon's title track on the new album is an amazing rendition of, Jack Rhodes' and Joe Hayes' "Satisfied Mind." Gordon sings with the same deep feeling of his earlier recordings -- driven by love, hurt, sadness and absolute conviction -- but there is now a maturity and understanding that has come with age.
