Gordon Bottomley was born in Keighley, Yorkshire, in 1874.
Bottomley's verse drama King Lear's Wife was published in its entirety in Georgian Poetry II (1915), and was a prominent example of Georgian poetic drama.
Bottomley's friends and acquaintances included the Georgians Wilfrid Gibson, Lascelles Abercrombie and John Drinkwater, all of whose reputations suffered a similar decline.
