Although he was born in Liverpool, Elliott grew up in Australia.
Originally a Sydney law student, Elliott worked part time on a radio show and ended up on Good Morning Australia.

Elliott made 209 sound films comprised of 120 features, nine shorts, three serials and 77 westerns, and starred in 70 of the westerns and the three serials.
A lot of actors pay their dues and toil in the trenches for several years but Elliott spent 13 years (1925 to 1938) doing that before he ever made the top of the cast list, and most leading-men types either make it in a few years or give up.
Elliott had a variety of name variations during his career.

Gordon made it his schtick to go from door to door (in New York City or elsewhere around the Tri-State area!) knocking around to see who would let him in.
Gordon and 'Good Day NY' host Jim Ryan (who just retired) had real good chemistry together, something that is rare and near-impossible to fake well on local morning shows.

Gordon Elliott MA PhD has been involved with ceramic history for this entire working life, initially as assistant to the late Arnold Mountford at Stoke-on-Trent's City Museum and Art Gallery [Potteries Museum], subsequently becoming the Museum's Keeper of Ceramics.
In 1978 his career took a change of direction upon joining the Department of History of Art and Design at what is now Staffordshire University, as a Senior Lecturer.
