Gordon Richards was raised in the Shropshire village of Donnington Wood, now part of Telford.
Winning The Derby was undoubtedly Sir Gordon's crowning victory, and he was promptly summoned from the winners' enclosure to be congratulated by the Queen.

Gordon was born on May 5, 1904, at Donnington Wood, Shropshire, the son of a miner.
In 1925 Gordon Richards was champion jockey for the first time with 118 winners and, expect for the years 1926 (hit with TB), 1930 (lost out by 1 to Freddie Fox), 1941 (broke a leg), he was champion until 1953 when he had his one and only Derby winner.

Gordon Richards was born in Ivy Row, known to the locals as Potato Row in Donnington Wood, on 5 May 1904.
Richards' riding style was said to be unorthodox, with a long rein and upright stance; he would turn almost sideways when he was pushing his horse at its hardest.
Gordon was noted as being kind and generous, and to commemorate his achievement, he returned to the area from his home in Wiltshire to present the schoolchildren of Wrockwardine Wood with a celebratory mug.

Richards won 14 classic races, but victory in the Derby eluded him until 1953, in what was recognised as certain to be near the end of his career.

I only pray that Richards will be able to restrain herself and keep her hands off of Gordon for a spl it second.
And I think Gordon agrees, unless he is lying to me as much as he is lying to Richards.
Not for reasons of jealousy (though Richards is more clingy around him just to spite Amber and myself- though we could care less-), but because Gordon is unhappy in the relationship, and Richards really only wants one thing.

As for Richards, she is not a bad person, she just needs to set her priorities straight.
Out of my group of friends, she is the one who has done all of the bad things- is, let us say, the most easily influenced, as well as the most influencial.
But it is mostly the fact of Richards being so influencial- the last thing Gordon needs right now is the thing that Richards wants, but he too may be easily inlfluenced.
