Gordon Strachan was an aggressive, skilful right-sided midfield player and is the father of Gavin Strachan, also a footballer.
Strachan continued to be a competent and regular first-team player as Leeds enjoyed mixed fortunes during their first three seasons of the Premiership, although he was sometimes kept out of the side by back problems.
Strachan's first season was ultimately successful as he coached Celtic to victory in the Scottish League Cup and, on 5 April 2006 his side clinched the SPL title in record time and with six matches remaining.

strachan is one of those managers that works well with 'lesser' teams and really brings the best out of them but i think with celtic he has bitten off more than he can chew.i doubt he'll last the season.

Why would he want to go to the old firm when he has a chairman that will bank roll him where he is? He will get far more praise winning the league with Heart than with the old firm before returning to the EPL.
But is he better than McLeish and Strachan?, may be I don't know alot about McCleish but I have actually always found Strachan a little over-rated.
I can't see past the one of the old firm winning the SPL (probably Celtic(c'mon the Hoops)) but as for Gordon Strachan he is rebuilding a team he inherited from MON, so it will be a while before he gets his team right for a full frontal assault on football both domestic and foreign.
