Gordon Waller - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gordon Waller (born on Gordon Trueman Riviere Waller, on June 4, 1945 in Braemar, Scotland) is a singer, best known as "Gordon" of 1960s duo Peter and Gordon, whose biggest hit was "World Without Love".
Through this connection he and Waller were often given unrecorded Lennon-McCartney songs to perform, most notably their first and biggest hit, 1964's decidedly Beatlesque "World Without Love."
Afterwards, Waller attempted a solo career with little success, releasing one record, Gordon, and appearing in a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Peter & Gordon branched further from their initial pop-folky British Invasion harmony sound on their fourth album, with erratic results.
There was an increased tilt toward heavy orchestrated ballads, which could work very well at times, as on the title track, a worthy updating of the old Buddy Holly song (and a big hit on both sides of the Atlantic).
However, they weren't well-suited to soul covers like "Cry to Me," and on their solo vocal showcases (Gordon Waller on Smokey Robinson's "Who's Lovin' You" and Peter Asher on "Any Day Now"), they overextend themselves without the support of a harmonizing partner.
