Metroad 2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hills Motorway (or M2 Motorway) was developed to connect Old Windsor Road, Seven Hills to Epping Road, North Ryde, and thus bypass the busy inner western suburbs.
In turn, Epping Road connects with Gore Hill Freeway at Artarmon which leads to the Harbour Bridge and the CBD.
As part of the integrated freeway plans drawn up for Sydney in the 1950s, the F2 was originally planned to link to the Gladesville Bridge and then on to Anzac Bridge via a new set of elevated freeways behind Drummoyne, the land for which was sold by the Wran Labor Government in the 1980s.

Warringah Freeway - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Warringah Freeway (also known as the Warringah Expressway and the M1) is a major road in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
The freeway links the northern ends of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Harbour Tunnel to the Gore Hill Freeway.
As its name suggests, the road was envisioned as the first stage of a freeway system for Sydney's Manly/Warringah area, however the road was never extended in this direction, partly due to the anticipated costs and perceived community opposition.

TRn: Sydney - no freeways, gore blimey mate   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-07)
The first and third are far more complex "freeways" in terms of multiple roadways, ramps and interchanges than anything to be found in the Detroit region, by the way.
In addition there are now three long radial "freeways" most of which are investor-built tollroads: the M2 Hills Motorway in the northern suburbs, the M4 Western Motorway and the M5 Toll Road to the southwest.
Four more "freeway" type facilities are in planning or design - three will be underground for the most part to avoid neighborhood and environmental objections, and bids are being sought for a fourth more conventional freeway-standard Western Orbital tollroad.

The baffle piers at the culvert outlet act as energy dissipators converting the flow from a supercritical state to a subcritical state, by reducing the velocity of the flow.
The stilling basin in the photograph to the left, is located approximately twenty (20) metres downstream from the box culvert shown in the previous photograph.
It is fed by a culvert which runs under the Gore Hill Freeway.

 Metroads of Sydney
Metroads are divided up into two types - radial Metroads, which connect the outer suburbs with the city centre of Sydney; and circumferential Metroads, which are major by-pass routes around the Metropolitan area.
Freeway portions of the Metroads are in green.
The National Routes and Highways and State Routes that radial Metroads meet up with on the metropolitan outskirts are also shown.

In Sydney, the Gore Hill Freeway, the main road by the transmission tower, was closed for the duration of the airlifts.
In preparation for the weight of the additional antennas, the Gore Hill tower was strengthened, using 60 tons of steel beams on the structure and an additional 50 cubic metres of concrete added to each footing.

 Welcome to Willoughby City Council
The figures in the attached document indicate most routes into and around the city have experienced an increase in traffic volumes over the three years between 1996 and 1999.
The M2 Motorway has resulted in a large increase in traffic volumes entering the city from the west with the majority of vehicles travelling along the Epping Road - Gore Hill Freeway corridor.
High proportions of these trips are directed towards the city, as evidenced by the corresponding volume increase along routes to the south.

Gore Hill Freeway Intersections - 20/03/1992
The Gore Hill Freeway will be of benefit to the Lane Cove electorate, as I mentioned yesterday, but residents are concerned about two intersections, one being the intersection of Parklands Avenue, Longueville Road and Epping Road, the other being the intersection of Epping Road and Centennial Avenue.
The freeway, when completed, will start at Woolloomooloo, go through the tunnel, come up the expressway, through Willoughby and Artarmon, underneath the Pacific Highway, then over a rise to the first traffic lights at Longueville Road - the first between Woolloomooloo and that point.
Motorists who drive along the freeway for five, eight or nine kilometres, mostly at freeway speeds, will come over a rise and have to stop suddenly at the traffic lights.

I checked out the Freeway Hotel on Thursday, along with co-reviewer Lucas, and we must admit, we find it to be in an odd place.
Well situated for the local office workers, warehouse staff, workies and passing trade from the nearby freeway after which it's named, this palce is large, reminiscent of some of the larger pubs out at the Northern Beaches, with pretty much everything you'd expect, including a drop-in cafe in the centre.
To the right, you'll find the sports bar, with TAB, pokies, two pool tables and tall stools, to the left is the piano bar (on automatic for our visit), with a more loungey feel, an outside area (smokers take note) and a classy-looking restaurant.

 Gore Hill Freeway
Honourable members may be aware that the M2 is at one end of my electorate and that the Gore Hill Freeway is towards the other end.
A decision was taken to investigate the possibility of a tunnel, or of varying the length, and at the end of October 1993 it became clear that a tunnel option would be pursued.
The purpose of this meeting will be to review the proposed plan for the conduct of the study and to present the team's preliminary views on the urban design and financing options for a tunnel.

In Melbourne when they built The Eastern Distributor, the Victorian Government didn't close existing roads, the freeway was built to give taxpayers the choice to pay a toll and cut their travel time in half, which many of them choose to do.
When given a choice people will use the tunnel, but when forced to use the tunnel because of road closures the only choice you are giving NSW taxpayers is their right to vote you out of office at the next election.
Those roads in the city belong to the people, just like the Gore Hill Freeway and the disaster that will be also.
