Even in comic panels where there are no words, the lack of dialogue or captions is in itself a statement, done to effect.
Well, my usual format of choice for comic pages is 800 pixels across, simply because if I'm web-publishing, the vast majority of the people browsing (in other words, most of the people who will be looking at the work) tend to use an 800 x 600 screen resolution.
But Comics tend to require people to flip from page to page already to follow a story, so making them take a step further and sidescroll to see some panels is an extra step that's a pain to some viewers.

By now, almost everyone must be familiar with the discovery of the iridium concentrations at the K-T (Cretaceous-Tertiary) boundary, and the Chicxulub impact crater, first reported in 1981, that appears to exactly the right age and the right size to have terminated most of the life on Earth, sixty-five million years ago.
The thesis of A Gorgon’s Mask: The Mother in Thomas Mann’s Fiction depends upon three psychoanalytic concepts: Freud’s early work on the relationship between the infant and its mother and on the psychology of artistic creation, Annie Reich’s analysis of the grotesque-comic sublimation, and Edmund Bergler’s analysis of writer’s block.

One of the reasons that Gorgon's plan doesn't work is that the audience immediately latches onto the idea that the Inhumans are terrorists and so, rather than sit back meekly and listen to Gorgon's demands, they attack.
And the second half of the book, after Gorgon has been captured and is being interrogated by the creepiest looking government official of all time, there are numerous allusions to the way the Bush administration has changed the rules of war.

When Joe first started buying comics as a kid, there was just something irresistible about an old issue of the Fantastic Four, that was displayed up on his comic shop’s wall, enshrined in a plastic bag, and selling for an astronomical ten dollars.
We may all like to call ourselves “comics fans,” but when Joe asked everyone in the audience who threw away their comics after they read them, to raise their hands, not a single hand went up.
Unlike the millions of “hot” comics that comics speculators were buying back in the early 90s by the box-load, that clearly were not “rare,” today’s Marvel comics, actually are rare.

A member of their race - Medusa - was first seen in Fantastic Four #36; Gorgon was seen in #44; the remainder of the Inhuman Royal Family was seen in #45; and the Inhumans' race and society were seen in #46.
This was hinted at in one issue of the Inhumans comic, and the sleeve notes to a trade paperback (if I remember correctly) said plainly that he was "the only animal ever to be exposed to the Terrigen mists." So that origin is pretty much official.
