Gorgoroth - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gorgoroth, also called the Plateau of Gorgoroth, is a place in J.
During the War of the Ring, Gorgoroth was the location for the mines and forges that produced Mordor's arms and armour.
Gorgoroth was also the name of a range of mountains to the north of Doriath.

 Gorgoroth - Demonic Black Metal
Existential tension is resolved in the realization of not narrative but meta-narrative: Gorgoroth have cloaked their postmodern deconstructionism in the camp and ultrathespian theatricalism of the fears of the past, and donning the mantle of evildoer have merited the title through sheer destructiveness toward normal music.
Gorgoroth surmount this with a concept piece which seems designed to sound like its namesake, a gigantic machine of death in familiar form, a word violently out of place used in a peaceful context to make an idea seem palatable.
With the technique of enough distortion enwrapping each riff, a chromatic cloud of melodic resonance is created in which the riff is visualized by the listener as the sound between the root tones and the ambient background, as reflective of itself in a the depolarization of tones and subtones.

Gorgoroth set out to create a fl metal album after the apocalypse of fl metal: the innovators have faded and now most fl metal is droning rock masquerading under corpsepaint and distortion.
The epic nature of previous Gorgoroth works backgrounds itself behind cyclic iterations of ideas expressing in functional listenability a morbidity and hope to be found in the philosophy of night.
The ideas as expressed in these riffs differ slightly from the first two Gorgoroth albums in appearance and are slightly derivative of the same, but use more consistent structural tone centers to avoid the extenuated development in connection to one another that made earlier Gorgoroth albums listening journeys.

In that regard, Gorgoroth's Under the Sign of Hell is extremely effective in actually musically portraying their cover art, as their sound is a collage of fls, whites and shades of gray with nary a blue or red anywhere in the sound.
The music is extremely harsh in the neatest possible sense, with vocals coming from the lacerated throat of someone we must assume has troll in his ancestory.
None of the songs stick out from the crowd to any major degree (though the slick speed rush of "The Rite of Infernal Invocation" is particularly yummy), but on a whole the album is cohesive and takes the listener on a pretty darned nifty ride.

CoC : Gorgoroth - Under the Sign of Hell / Osculum Infame - Dor-Nu-Fauglith : Review
Norway's Gorgoroth have always produced cool music, and their latest is no exception: stripped-down, totally unpretentious fl metal with a killer garage vibe, enhanced by a loud, no-nonsense production that keeps everything sounding brash and abrasive, as this style most certainly should.
This is not rude, crusty basement blasting in the Gorgoroth style; rather, it's "epic", long-winded fl metal with varied pacing, outstanding keyboard work, lots of emotion and atmosphere, and a very somber, wintry feel.
Pardon me if I refrain from trying to whip up a blizzard of additional descriptors; suffice it to say that the band's sound is fairly standard, all in all, while their skill in songwriting exceeds that of most of their "true unholy" peers.

I'm doing this review from a promo that doesn't tell who's who in Gorgoroth 2000, but the obvious bet is founder Infernus on guitar and possibly some of the vocals.
We detour into oddity again with "An Excerpt of X," a brooding track with a great background lead riff and sampled "vocals." "Ein eim av blod og helvetesild" harkens back to the title track, an all-out speed moment in their gloriously minimal vein.
