Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, Gorlim was one of the companions of Barahir.
Gorlim accepted, betraying his lord, and then Sauron revealed Gorlim had seen but a spectre devised by him, but that he would keep his word.
After Orcs had slain all of Barahir's remaining men but for his son Beren, who was out hunting, Gorlim appeared as a spectre before Beren, and confessed his deeds, giving Beren a chance to reclaim the Ring of Barahir, heirloom of his house, and escape alive.

Eilinel -the wife of Gorlim, he was one of Barahir's companions but when returning home he saw it was ruined.
He searched for Eilinel, but was captured by Sauron and he told Gorlim that if he told him about Barahir, then he would be returned to Eilinel.
Gorlim was finally persuaded and told all, but Sauron revealed Eilinel was dead and so he killed Gorlim.

Sauron was also responsible for deviously tricking human outlaw Gorlim into thinking his wife was still alive.
Gorlim, thinking he could save his wife if he betrayed his fellow outlaws, told Sauron his full story, and, as a reward, joined his wife in death.

Sauron tricked Gorlim - one of Barahir's followers - by agreeing to reunite him with his missing wife.
