When the nicer pitch of the gorn is eventually learned by all drivers, road rage may be reduced drastically because drivers think they're getting thanked every few kilometers.
It's also more satisfactory to know that the helpee acknowledges the favour you've done them, and a gorn is harder to miss than a semi-curled hand being quickly raised out of a car window for a few moments.
