The fang itself belonged to a demon called Goshinki who was involved in a fight with Inuyasha.
Goshinki's fangs were so strong that they were able to destroy the Tessaiga by biting and breaking the blade in half during the battle.
Though Goshinki was eventually defeated and killed by Inuyasha during the fight, the mere fact that it was able to break the Tessaiga gives us an idea of how strong that fang would be if it were to be created in to a sword.

But seeing that it was Kaijinbo instead, Goshinki became disappointed and refused to pass on his mind-reading powers which is why Sesshomaru was unable to discover Toukijin's mind-reading powers.
But because Goshinki is now interested in Sesshomaru (who has overcome Goshinki's evil power over the sword once before and is the sword's true owner), Toutousai went to Sesshomaru and battled him instead of Inuyasha.
And after Kaijinbo asked that, he then senses the reason why Goshinki refuses to pass on his true power which is because Goshinki sees Toutousai as a more worthy sword smith because he is the one who forged Tetsusaiga, and of course, Tenseiga (the very sword that brought Goshinki back to life).

Inu-Yasha arrives to deal with Goshinki, but is unable to land a strike since Goshinki knows what he is going to do before he does it.
He rips right through Goshinki who is unable to read what Inu-Yasha is planning since he is acting purely upon the thought of being able to easily slaughter Goshinki.
Sessho-maru tosses Goshinki's head down and tells Kaijinbo that his teeth were able to rip though Tetsusaiga, the blade forged by Toto-sai, who happens to be Kaijinbo's former master.
