Die Veröffentlichung seines Buches "Goslar 1918 - 1945" hatte 1999 in der Kaiserstadt und ehemaligen "Reichsbauernstadt" Goslar eine rege Debatte ausgelöst. Vom September 1999 bis Juni 2000 zeigte das Goslarer Museum auf 10 Schautafeln die Ausstellung, die auf der Grundlage unserer Recherchen die Lebens- und Arbeitssituation der in der Region beschäftigten Zwangsarbeiter dokumentiert.
Ziel der Kooperation ist es, an die Opfer des Außenkommandos Goslar zu erinnern, das das KZ Buchenwald in den Jahren 1940 bis 1942 unterhielt, und die Geschichte der Nazi-Einrichtung aufzuarbeiten.
Ein Kommando mit russischen Kriegsgefangenen wurde wohl in Thale von den Amerikanern befreit, andere Kommandos in der Nähe von Vienenburg, wo sie sich teilweise mit den Jugendlichen aus dem KZ Moringen vermischt haben.
