		Silverchair quickly became famous after bursting onto the post-grunge scene, firstly due to the novelty of their youth and secondly for the fact that they were the only Australian artists (apart from Rolf Harris, of course) not to have graduated to music from soap stardom.
		The album is grungy, sure, but also has a metallic streak that sets Silverchair apart from the average Nirvana wanabees.
		The album is of decent quality all the way through, though, with no tracks that i would describe as fillers.

		This, their debut album, certainly proves that Cay have all they need to carve out a name for themselves, as if providing the quality that Hole's third album failed to live up to, but making it stunningly ten times better.
		Her voice is one of the most entrancing, hypnotic-like, qualities of the album as it dances between being seductively serene and intensely coarse also bringing a prescription of phlegmy blues to each track, making the lyrics more believable and emotions more credible.
		Reflecting back on an album which almost seems to burst out of it's own seams, all of the choking, spitting, ripping, snarling and roaring have now been tamed into an extremely emotional intense beast which now sits curled by the fire.

		I have seen a stamp album - a blank one, by the way - whose clean, white pages no writing of any kind mars, not even the date of issue of the stamps, but which contains a mine of information and is moreover a storehouse of interesting tales.
		The owner originally intended only to make a description as to watermark, perforation, etc., on the space for each stamp before he inserted it but later developed it into placing thereunder any stray items of interest that might be connected with the stamps, in fine handwriting.

		It was released on Mushroom Records in Australia and was the debut album for Paul Kelly and The Coloured Girls.
		Initially a double album with 24 tracks, it was edited down to a single 15-track LP for North American release (with a handful of tracks being remixed, and the running order changed).
		Once the Gossip LP fell out of print, this was the only commercially available version of the album from the mid-1990s until 2005.

		From its roots in whiskey-soaked hillbilly rave-ups, to its sexiest moments as a soundtrack to the decadent lifestyle, to its name, taken from an outdated slang term for sex, there’s always going to be a bad streak in rock music.
		From the opening riff in the opening track, "Swing Low," to the final strains of this album, the Gossip are as much influenced by raunchy blues as punk rock.
		Though the Gossip’s mix of blues and punk rock is fairly novel, at least in modern punk circles, it still doesn’t ever create a lot of life on its own.

		If The Gossip concentrated on writing great songs and being accomplished musicians, rather than simply justifying their flaws in the name of punk rock, they could make a great album.
		With that said, both Gossip albums have their virtues and are worth checking out if only for Beth's rich, sexy voice.

		Not only are they gearing up for the release of their third record, Standing In The Way Of Control (Kill Rock Stars) on January 24, but the punk-soul trio relocated to Portland, Oregon and released a dance 12-inch of album single "Standing In The Way Of Control" back in October.
