 Scots in Sweden - Seventeenth Century - Part 1
On 15th November 1649 James Graham, 5th Earl of Montrose, arrived in Gothenburg from Copenhagen, and stayed with a Scottish merchant, James Maclean, who had been raised to the nobility in May 1649, under the name Makeléer.
Montrose also had three standards manufactured in Gothenburg; and it was during his stay that he wrote the famous declaration to the Scottish people, which was printed in 1650.
It consisted of three ships; the frigate he had bought from the Crown, and two merchantmen, one with the 200 men he had enlisted in Denmark, the other with the weapons he had bought.

The Steamboat Society was formed in 1966 with the aim of rescuing the passenger steamer BOHUSLAN (built in 1914) from scrapping, a task that has proved succesful beyond our wildest expectations.
Later the fleet of veteran vessels has grown to include a steam ferry, FARJAN 4 (built in 1920), owned by the Gothenburg Maritime Museum, but cared for and operated by members of the Steamboat Society, on regular sailings in the Gothenburg harbour, as well as charter tours (links, see above).
In May 1998 the ownership was transferred to the Gothenburg Maritime Center (although members of the Steamboat Society still play an important role in her future preservation).

The last show in March was executed on the island of Hönö in the Gothenburg Archipelago on the 27:th of March.
Drag-On-Line concluded the national 2004 Eurovision Contest by performing at Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg with the grand Schlager Show "€urotra$h" simultaneously with the Contest Final in Globen (Stockholm) on the 20:th of March.
The guest star that night was Jan Johansen, who by the way appreciated his own Drag-On-Line impersonation a lot.
