		Breached the Gothic Lines.1 and n.2, captured Rimini gateway to North Italy and to the Balkans, cut the German defences in the Apennines, Kesselring was menaced with being surrounded.
		According to the international official histories the real Gothic Line offensive ends with the end of the battle of Rimini, on Sept. 30.
		The Gothic Line offensive starts again with " the battle of rivers' in preparation of the "Operation Gelignite" which should have driven the Americans beyond Bologna whilst the British should have landed in Dalmatia.

		There are couple very good detail pictures of these defensive strongpoints showing the "crew box" the turrets were mounted on and the log foundation.

		Now the Germans had dug in north of Florence.
		One of these towns was Siena, home to much glorious medieval art--also home to the Italian partisans, guerillas who had been harassing the Germans and remnants of Italian fascists since Italy had surrendered.

		The new line generally consisted of a series of fortified passes and mountaintops, some fifteen to thirty miles in depth north of the Arno River and stretched east from the Ligurian Sea through Pisa, Florence, and beyond.
