The reason I ask that is everytime I see the Gourami tanks at the store, they are loaded with Gourami's and they don't seam to bother each other.
Gouramis are not great when thrown all together in a tank.
Long story short, the dominant Gourami killed the the other dwarf gourami, one of the sparkling, 3 cherry barbs and 1 of the rasboras.

In regards to flame dwarf gourami, I have 2.
The only concern with the gourami is whether they will get aggressive and like Shan I consider the dwarf variety risky.

The Blue Gourami is also known as the Three-Spot Gourami, even though they really only have two fl spots on their body.
The Blue Gourami is an extremely hardy fish that can tolerate a wide range of conditions as far as ph, water hardness, water quality, temperature, and tank mates.
To avoid confusion they were called "3 spot gourami" (when oddly enough it is wild 2 spots that have a third spot on the caudals..heh) Color morphs come from both and the interbreeding of both.

 gourami pals
I have many types of gourami's, and the only ones that seem to be a bit toughy are the opaline ones and 3 spot ones- but they only seem to be touchy with other gouramis.
Both gourami tanks have neons in- the gouramis dont even notice them- small barbs(gold..etc) and corries and they get along fine- just every now and again the opaline's play a game of cat and mouse with each other..but they keep to them selfs when doing it.
I have a three spot,an opaline and two gold gourami-I would really like a few more fish of the same size as I mentioned before,but thanx for info- atleast I know that smaller fish are ok for future reference.
