 England's Liberal Government
The government of Great Britain is always in harmony with the House of Commons, and as the ministers speak for the king, he does not emphasize the virtue of consistency, for he may be put in the attitude of advocating a thing to-day and opposing it to-morrow.
Their opposition to the conservative government contributed not a little to the Liberal victory and the bill now under consideration in parliament puts them upon an equal footing with the members of the Established Church in respect to schools and removes the tests which formerly operated against non-conformist teachers.
The government is also supporting a measure which protects the English tenant farmers in their improvements' and in their right to vote according to their own views, irrespective of the wishes of the landlord.

The word "England" evokes many different images: great cities with their imposing Georgian, Victorian and modern architecture; the Mediaeval castles and cathedrals of country towns; and the delightful villages and rolling hills that the poet and visionary William Blake called "England's green and pleasant land".
The British Government is prepared to devolve more power to the regions of England if there is a demand for it and has established a new London-wide authority for the capital.
This consists of a directly elected Mayor who is able to influence policy on transport, economic development, strategic planning, the environment and culture, and a separately elected Assembly of 25 members with powers to question the Mayor on his or her activities and to investigate issues on behalf of Londoners.

We also seek to help improve the standards of local government through working directly with local authorities who have achieved beacon status and those considered to be ’weak’ or ‘poor’ under the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) process, carried out by the Audit Commission.

The problem is that central Government is far too power hungry, they continually take power from local councils and these proposals will do little to correct that, since most of the regional governments' power will come from counties.
England deserves the same recognition as Scotland and Wales and that is as a country in it's own right and not one subdivided into regions.
England is a country and a country within its own right, in the same way that the other three countries of Scotland, Wales and Ireland are recognised as being.
