John Heskett is Chair Professor at the School of Design of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University after 15 years as professor at the Institute of Design, Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
Under her stewardship, it plays a key role in the emergence of a design culture in the Province of Quebec, encourages innovation, extends the influence of Quebec designers into the global arena and is instrumental in the development and promotion of products reaping international awards.
In 1985, while directing the Secretariat for the Development of the Montreal Region and the committee responsible for defining the strategy to reinstate Montreal in its role as development centre, she became aware of the economic importance of design.
