Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano underwent surgery to have an ovarian cyst and her right ovary removed, her office announced Wednesday.
It said the governor, who had battled breast cancer four years ago, expected to be out of the hospital Thursday and to be back at work within a few days.
The governor is elected for a four-year term, and may serve any number of terms, though no more than two in a row.

Janet Napolitano vetoed a bill Tuesday that would have drawn Arizona deeper into the fight against illegal immigration by making it a crime for illegal immigrants to be in the state.
It was the first-term governor's 115th veto, a record for Arizona.
The previous Arizona veto record of 114 was established by Democrat Bruce Babbitt, according to figures compiled by the Arizona Capitol Times newspaper.

(Jan. 31, 2003) – Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano announced earlier this week that the innovative approach to providing mental health services to children that was adopted as part of the historic JK settlement would be expanded statewide.
Under the JK settlement agreement, the state agreed to undertake a fundamental shift in the way it treats children and families, based on 12 principles that emphasize treating children and families with respect and promoting collaboration among agencies.
The “300 Kids” pilot project, which was an outgrowth of the JK settlement, uses an approach that seeks to involve the entire family in a child’s treatment, as well as neighbors, community organizations and even churches.
