The US50 - A guide to the state of New Hampshire - History
While the new towns were occasionally given the names of the leading grantees, not a few of them bore the historic names of English royalty, frequently those of friends and relatives of Governor Wentworth and his own royal family, the Rockinghams, in England.
A pre-Revolution event occurring in New Hampshire was the removal in 1774, by a small party of patriots at New Castle, of the powder and guns at Fort William and Mary.
New Hampshire's John Langdon was the first acting vice-president of the United States, and was President of the Senate when Washington was elected first president.

U.S.: New Hampshire Governor Vetoes Anti-Death Penalty Measure
New Hampshire’s House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the bill, but the vote in the Senate was 12-11 in favor of the measure.
New Hampshire has not imposed the death penalty in 65 years, and the state has not executed a juvenile offender since colonial times.
With that in mind, the New Hampshire governor’s refusal to let the bill become law is probably less important than the fact that the legislature sent it to him.

Historical Biographies, Nova Scotia: Governor, Sir John Wentworth (1737-1820).
Governor Parr took issue on the basis that the people he was taking fees from (newly arrived loyalists) were promised land grants without fees.
Governor Wentworth, however, thought that he and his friends should just continue along with their outdated notion31 that the prerogative rights of the crown, as Wentworth represented, were not to be affected by the resolutions of the elected assembly.
It is to be remembered that John Parr was named the full Governor of Nova Scotia in 1782; and, I might say at this point was to continue on as the governor until his death in 1791, at which time John Wentworth, finally, was named as the governor of Nova Scotia.

New York based its claim on the letters Patent granted the Prince Edward Augustus, Duke of York and Albany all of the lands west of the Connecticut River to Delaware Bay.

The New Hampshire grants were "town-sized," and generally settled by middle-class farmers, setting the stage for Vermont's populist uprising of the Revolutionary era.
