		Via Jason Kuznicki, a story I missed: the governor of Maryland, Robert Ehrlich, has vetoed a bill that would have given gay couples the legal right to be treated as a relative in medical situations.
		Since gay marriage is not legal in Maryland I don't see a legitimate argument as to why those rights should be taken from the family and passed on to another person in a state that doesn't recognize they are married.
		As we see here in the Maryland situation, any law that extends any sort of privilege or protection to gay couples, even if not worded as marriage, can be rejected simply because also happens to be, as one would put it, an incident of marriage.
