 Cote History
Generally the ships of that era were supplied by the French Navy, which is why searches at the French Naval Archives might be fruitful.
Generally, like many of the French Canadian family names, it appears there are two basic spellings used, one is an Old World spelling 'Coste' and a the other a New World spelling 'Côté'.
This caused a 40-year stand-off that ended in 1754 where the governor of Nova Scotia deported anyone who would not pledge allegiance to the English Crown.

The role of the Governor-General is, effectively, to keep the Dutch East Indies productive without allowing pressures on the indigenous population to become so great that rebellion results.
As Multatuli/Dekker notes, the current Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies is not, in the view of Max Havelaar, typical of those who have preceded him.
If they fail, the Governor-General will be disgraced and the Resident of Bantam will be exiled to a penal colony in the Dutch East Indies for having countenanced the abuses that have taken place.

Paul van der Velde - The Royal Dutch Geographical Society and the Dutch East Indies, 1873-1914
The Dutch Geographical Society, which was founded in 1873, has a role in such a reassessment, and it is also possible to view the foundation of the society within the framework of the increase of private initiative in the Dutch East Indies.
Since the majority of the Dutch in the Dutch East Indies were opposed to these kinds of provocation, they also opposed the scientific expedition of the society because they viewed it as a veiled attempt to extend control over Sumatra in an amoral way.
In fact, the Dutch East Indies were at this stage an ambitious territorial claim which did not mirror global political realities.

 TASMANIAN SHIPWRECKS
Discovered in 1642 by the Dutch navigator Abel Tasman, who named it Van Diemen's Land in honour of the Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, he took possession for Holland.
Coastal shipping plied the east and north coast, rather than the more open and treacherous seas off the west coast, with its rugged coastline and lack of shelter.
She had sailed from Mauritius for Hobart with a general cargo including salt pork, spirits, wine and soap, much of which was salvaged by the brigs Prince Leopold and Deveron.
