GoVia has won an eight-year franchise to operate rail services in Kent and south-east London, including the new high-speed line to the Channel Tunnel.
GoVia has agreed a £115m deal with Lombard to upgrade six rail maintenance depots in the Sussex area for its South Central subsidiary.
GoVia is planning to revamp six train depots in London and the south-east at a cost of £60m, and tenders will be submitted by Kier, Mowlem, Amec and Fitzpatrick in March.

Anthony Smith, the chief executive of the Rail Passengers Council, described the announcement that fares would rise by 3 per cent above inflation from January 2007 to help pay for investments including a £250m fleet of new Hitachi high-speed trains, as the "sting in the tail".
Govia takes over the franchise next April and will also start high-speed commuter services into St Pancras station from 2009 on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.

De Govia darkens the mood on ‘Metatalk’ before belting out a succession of dance anthems, although the mood occasionally drifts into downtempo electronica.
De Govia tips his hat towards Robert Miles, and even Orbital at times, but I’m not sure ‘Chronoscale’ successfully manages to stamp his own identity on his work consistently enough.
Too much of Chronoscale is repetitve and unmemorable, and the hook lines and melodies certainly need to be stronger and more defined if he wants further accolades.
