Champion was in town to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Dance Council of America.
Champion was the original model for Snow White and her voice was used for the character Blue Fairy in "Pinocchio." She eventually teamed up with Gower Champion, gaining national recognition by appearing on Ed Sullivan's "Toast of the Town" and performing on-the-road in numerous cities.
Champion won an Emmy for the choreography in "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom" and currently serves as a member of the Tony Award nominating committee.

Champion was one of several notable graduates of Fairfax High School, West Hollywood, California.
