Editorial: Bring back the band - The Stanford Daily Online
Benching the Band can only serve to lower student morale, and it is necessary for all parties to consider a different way of resolving the current situation.
Yes, the Band should be doing a field show at Kal, but the AD has already proved over and over again that he doesn't understand why we love Stanford (hint: it's not about the shiny new stadium, stupid contests sponsored by Wells Fargo, or any other sort of lame gimmick).
Meanwhile, the fate of the Band is in the hands of an academic committee chaired by a specialist in grad student problems.

Music history is littered with bands who were more interesting because of their members than for their actual musical output.
These bands come in many forms; some of them were offshoots of better-known bands, while some others were bands that featured a future hitmaker in their lineup.

Michael Slawter And The Saving Graces - Shimmering and brainy tunes in the finest tradition of American power-pop   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Now Slawter is fronting the Saving Graces, which has just released an EP on the Paisley Pop label (based in Portland, Ore., and devoted to issuing the work of 'great artists in the modern rock, power pop, jangle-pop, alt-country, and indie pop vein').
He's always in a band, with all of the struggles and uncertainties that entails, but at the same time he enjoys the stability of a career and family.
Even though he’ll admit that bands he admires and is often compared to (like Cheap Trick) belong to the pop era, what the term has come to mean doesn’t jibe with his feelings for the music that is displayed under its banner.

Where YHF reveled in the chaos of the band's layered noise experiments, Ghost is methodical and easier to parse.
The band's dynamics are still intact, showing off their chemistry during the harmonic-rich thunder of the Kim Gordon-sung "Mariah Carey and the Arthur Doyle Hand Cream." In places ("Stones") they hit on the rhythmically mutated Allmans harmony guitar lines that they introduced on 2002's Murray Street.
The band is putting their best foot forward, and changing naturally, in that sort of late period glide that career musicians seem to enter in their 40s -- music that's wonderful in its own way, though not as immediately exciting as their earlier work.
