After three terms in Congress, GraceNapolitano is hoping voters will let her break a promise she made when she first campaigned for her seat.
Napolitano's actions in Congress have largely dealt with water-quality issues in her district, where aquifers are polluted and military fuel storage areas have threatened groundwater supplies.
Napolitano serves on the House Committee on Resources, where she serves on the subcommittees on water and power and energy and mineral resources.
GraceNapolitano is serving her second term in Congress having won re-election with 71 percent of the vote.
Napolitano obtained congressional funds to bring new businesses and job training programs to her district, including a $2.8 million Labor Department grant to support specialized high tech training and $4 million to spur reuse and redevelopment of the Northrop Grumman B-2 facility in Pico Rivera.
Napolitano's political career began when she was first elected to the Norwalk city council in 1986.

Congresswoman GraceF. Napolitano on Wednesday blasted House Resolution 6, the Energy Policy Act, and called on California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to stand up for all Californians and oppose a bill that places the interests of oil companies higher than his constituents.
Under this legislation, oil companies and other producers of the gasoline additive MTBE would receive liability protection from lawsuits filed by local water utilities or municipalities that discover their water has been contaminated by the companies’ for-profit actions.
In addition, Napolitano said the bill would weaken the state’s ability to object to a pipeline or energy facility project approved by the Federal Energy Regulation Commission, allowing the federal government to usurp both state and local authority.
