 On "The Pangolin"
She again uses graceful to describe the movement of the pangolin which is "the not unchain-like machine-like/form and frictionless creep of a thing/made graceful by adversities, con-/ /versities." Moore sees the pangolin as moving with a steady, methodical rhythm which suits its lifestyle which is filled with both difficulties and contradictions.
Grace, Moore insists, also includes time in which to pay a debt, referring to the "grace period." She might also have been thinking of those lines from the Lord's Prayer, "forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors." If this is her reference, then time to pay the debt is indeed grace.
It unites the grace of the architecture (patterned as "a monk and monk and monk") and the grace of the poem (with its pattern of repetitions).

She was no contemporary super-model, but in an era in which the typical opera diva tipped the scales at anywhere up to 200 pounds, Moore's relatively svelte 130-140 pounds made her as visually alluring as any woman on any operatic stage.
In 1938, Moore starred in her final film, Louise, based on a work by Charpentier-the director was Abel Gance, the famed director of Napoleon, and it was filmed outside of Paris.

Grace Gillian, abandoned by her husband, thinks of herself in mundane terms—but she is an extraordinarily passionate and impulsive woman whose "wild Irish streak" will soon either land her trouble, bring her happiness, or both.
As Grace, the heart of the novel, works toward closure with her past, her story intertwines with those of her neighbors, the Moores, Applebys, Balderidges, and others—all waiting to learn what the future holds.
At the outset of Grace, two of the major characters, Grace Gillian and Bobby Moore, both have clear ideas of what should happen for themselves (of lasting love with John Appleby and of joining the navy, respectively) that have passed by the wayside as the novel ends.

In other words, Moore and LGE are going to enjoy a mildly profitable summer preaching solely to the converted with this rushed, padded and, during its smug first hour, massively unfunny election year broadside.
It’s a shame that Moore’s film is so top-heavily self-satisfied, because here is a universally affecting portrait of a woman who went from hating the war protestors to understanding that it wasn’t her children they inveighed against, but the unjustness of the cause for which they fought.
This chapter of the film culminates in a truly galling moment of sadly typical “dittohead” idiocy, when, on a trip to the White House, this good woman is verbally assaulted by what appears to be a pro-war protester, who charges that Moore is staging a moment, and that she didn’t really lose a son.
