 Gracie Allen
Gracie Allen was a comedienne of the movies, radio, and early television.
Gracie's birth certificate was destroyed in the California Earthquake of 1906, and thus it is believed she was either born in 1897 or 1902 (more than likely the latter).
Born into an Irish Catholic show-business family, Allen was educated at the Star of the Sea Convent School as a girl, and then became a vaudeville performer with her sister Bessie in 1909.

 Allen, Gracie
Gracie Allen transferred her popular fictional persona from vaudeville, film, and radio, to American television in the 1950s.
Allen had performed with her husband and partner, George Burns, for nearly 30 years when the pair debuted in The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show on CBS in October 1950.
The onscreen Gracie's reinterpretations of the televisional world proved extremely disruptive to people and events around her, although the disruptions were generally playful rather than serious, and were quickly settled (usually by her husband the straight man) at the end of each episode.

 GRACIE ALLEN'S 1940 PRESIDENTAL CAMPAIGN
Gracie was the only candidate to encourage the American people to take pride in our national debt, boasting that "it's the biggest in the world." So impressed was she with the $43 billion owed by the government that she proposed depositing the entire amount in a "safe" bank at two percent intrest.
Gracie conceded that there was a danger in being the first candidate that year to hold a convention in as much as the Republicans would probably double any campaign promises she made and the Democrats were certain to follow behind and redouble the ante.
Gracie forthrightly referred to her platform ("redwood trimmed with 'nutty' pine") as having "such insignificance that future historians may well call it the Magna Carta of the Misdeal." Her platform ideas, she confessed, had come to her in a dream.

Burns and Allen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Burns and Allen were an American comedy duo consisting of George Burns and his wife, Gracie Allen.
Historians of popular culture have often stated that Allen was a brilliant comedian, whose entire career consisted of engaging in dialogues of "illogical logic" that left her verbal opponents dazed and confused, and her audiences in stitches.
During a typical 23-minute episode of the Burns and Allen show, the vast majority of the dialogue and speaking parts were written for Allen, who was credited with having the genius to deliver her lengthy diatribes in a fashion that made it look as though she was making her arguments up on the spot.
