The Committee reviewed 741 unrestricted U.S. stakes races with a purse of at least $75,000, and assigned graded status to 487 of them, one more than were graded in 2002.
LEXINGTON, Ky - The American Graded Stakes Committee of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association today presented its listing of U.S. Graded Stakes for 2003, the results of its annual grading session conducted November 25 - 26 in Lexington.
Following is a summary breakdown of all grade levels and a complete list of all upgraded and downgraded U.S. races for the 2003 racing season.

 Churchill racetracks to offer 14 stakes races Thanksgiving weekend - 2000-11-21 - Business First of Louisville
Ten of the races offered are graded stakes.
Churchill Downs will conclude its 2000 Fall Meet over the holiday weekend with a collection of stakes races designed to attract the nation's top horses in the handicap and juvenile divisions, according to a news release.
The Churchill Downs Simulcast Network will offer 14 stakes races with purses totaling $3.2 million over the Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 23-26.

The Canadian Graded Stakes Committee met in December 2003 and reviewed 152 unrestricted Canadian stake races with a purse of at least $40,000 and assigned graded status to 38 of them.
Two races were downgraded from a GII to a GIII – the British Columbia Derby and the Nassau Stakes.
Only one new race was upgraded to a GIII from a listed race - the Seaway Stakes.
