Topic: Graeae

Graeae - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Graeae were daughters of Phorcys, one aspect of the "old man of the sea," and Ceto, and thus were among the Phorcydes, all of which were archaic beings either of the sea or chthonic deities.
The Graeae took the form of three grey-haired old women, though poets might give them the euphemistic designation "beautiful." Their age was so great that a childhood for them was hardly conceivable.
The Graeae can be compared with the three spinners of Destiny (the Moirae), the northern European Norns, or the Baltic goddess Laima and her two sisters.

Graeae promotes the inclusion of disabled and Deaf people in professional theatre, leading by example with its own programme of touring productions made by disabled people, specifically actors, directors and other theatre professionals with physical and sensory impairments.
Graeae’s work is hampered by having to hire alternative spaces with inadequate accessibility, often battling against broken lifts, full car parks with no allocated bays, and ill-lit corridors - just a few of the many barriers to everyday activity that society continually places in disabled people’s way, in most cases without realising their impact.
Graeae began formal training of disabled actors in 1998 with the first Missing Piece course, and in 2002 began a partnership with London Metropolitan University to establish the Missing Piece as an annual part of the curriculum.
