Gooch was born in Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, in East London on 23 July 1953.
Gooch had a public falling-out with England's other great batsman of his era, David Gower, particularly after Gower's prank involving hiring a vintage aircraft and 'buzzing' the ground where England was playing during the unsuccessful tour of Australia in 1990/91.

Graham Gooch Cricket / Telegames (don't know anything about the sport, but would love to learn and play on a Jag!) - Not released.
Saw screens for James Pond 3 and Graham Gooch too in a Telegames brochure i was sent back in the day, shame i lost it! They also had screenshots for Wild Cup Soccer (the sequal to Brutal Sports Football) and Ultimate Brain Games too.
The latter of which i believe was also finished and was scheduled for the Lynx as well, as a sequal to Ultimate Chess Challenge, and WAS released on the Gameboy.
