By the time the Heritage celebrated its 10th anniversary, Graham Marsh had established himself as one of the best players on the international golf scene, which at the time, was not unlike being one of the best actors in the Des Moines Screen Guild.
Trailing by four shots entering Sunday, Marsh was tied by the time he reached the turn, shooting a 1-under 35, while Watson struggled to a 39.
The Heritage victory helped Marsh, a 10-year veteran of international play who was forced to earn an exemption at qualifying school in 1976, become the Tour's Rookie of the Year and Watson rebounded from his loss at Harbour Town to win his first major championship the following week at the Masters.
