Grain whisky is made from a mixture of cereals (corn, wheat, barley, rye) and distilled in a special kind of still called a "continuous still," which distills the whisky until it is clean and neutral.
Malt whisky is made only from malted barley and only in "pot stills," which are less efficient than the continuous still and allow the spirit to retain more of the character of the malt.
A blended whisky is a grain whisky (usually up to 70 percent) that has had different single-malt whiskies (sometimes dozens) added to it to arrive at a specific style.
