  grammar - HighBeam Encyclopedia
The list of morphemes and their meanings (see semantics) in a language is usually not part of a grammar but is isolated in a dictionary or vocabulary.
The analysis of syntax is also concerned with the ordering of the grammatical sequences within the phrase, with agreement between concomitant entities (i.e., agreement of number and gender between subject and verb, noun and pronoun), and with case, as mandated by the position and function of a word within a sentence.
Grammatical analysis was further developed in the 20th cent.

Grammatical rules were formulated, perhaps, for the benefit of 'immigrants' or as teaching aids to students of a language.
In this process of delineating grammatical rules, the phonetic and morphological structures of each of the Indian languages were codified and frozen as 'rules' of the language.

LINGUIST List 9.467: State of Comparative Linguistics
But their lesson is the opposite of what the self-appointed critics of comparative linguistics (such as Thomason and Kaufman and so on) seem to think.
1) grammatical reconstruction is more complex and its principles are less well understood or agreed to than phonological reconstruction (of vocabulary), 2) areal studies show that grammatical features diffuse across languages differentiated and classified on the basis of lexical origin.
It remains unclear, at best, and is probably false, at worst, that bundling of grammatical isoglosses necessarily circumscribes sets of languages which descend from a single common ancestor but have since been differentially injected with lexical material from other languages.

X besar daripada Y 'X is big compared to Y' or 'X is bigger than Y' But the language can also modify the adjective as we do, using a number of particles to show not just the two degrees of comparison 'more' and 'most' but also 'ever more', 'very', 'too', 'too little' and others.
Since some means of comparing people and things are found in all languages, we can conclude that this has been part of language from its first dawning, and therefore a fundamental aspect of human consciousness.

 Linguist List - Book Information
It is based on a sample of over 100 dialects of Romani, collected and processed via the Romani Morpho-Syntax (RMS) Database - a comparative grammatical outline in electronic form, constructed by the authors between 2000-2004.
Romani dialects provide an exciting sample of language change phenomena: they are oral languages, which have been separated and dispersed from some six centuries, and are strongly shaped by the influence of diverse contact languages.
In what is referred to as 'dynamic', such prioritisation is influenced by an interplay of factors: the values within a category and the conceptual notions that they represent, the grammatical structure onto which the category values are mapped, and the kind of strategy that is applied in order to prioritise certain value.

I say that adjectives either come equipped with their comparative and superlative forms or they don't.
If these inflected forms are not shown, it means the word can be compared only with more and most, or the word has "absolute" senses which do not sensibly allow comparison.
I had thought that adjectives ending in -ful, -less, -al, -ive, and -ous, and adjectives formed with -ed or -ing are always compared with more/most.
