Grammy Award - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Unlike the Academy Awards, for which the eligibility period begins January 1, the eligibility period for the Grammys begins October 1, which results in September being considered the Christmas sales period for the music industry (in which artists generally release big albums to qualify for the next year's Grammy).
For example, John Lennon and Yoko Ono's album Double Fantasy was released in November, 1980, a month-and-a-half too late to qualify for the 1981 Grammys; it was entered for the 1982 awards and eventually won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

It is no wonder they were nominated for the 1998 Grammy Award for Album Of The Year and won the 1998 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance with this album.
The songs on the album are not all your basic 4-minute pop rock tunes like those being pumped out by the rest of the music industry currently.
About halfway through the album we are greeted with an eerie track which probes the value of our lives and where we place our values.

The Grammy award for album of the year is the last award given out during the ceremony, so you could say it's the most highly anticipated.
Of course, it's hard to predict which artist at the 48th Grammy Awards ceremony, which will be shown tonight on CBS, will walk away with the evening's most coveted prize.
Nonetheless, critics and industry insiders this year are nearly unanimous in saying that this year's real competition is between Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" and Kanye West's "Late Registration." Both artists garnered eight nods apiece.

Year after year, a Beatles anthology appears before Christmas to appeal to aging baby boomers and a younger generation starting to learn that the Fab Five are really the Fab Four.
As the group was falling apart, the Beatles produced a mishmash of songs that they handed over to legendary record producer Phil Spector, who threw in celestial choirs and Mantovani-like strings.
Whatever the merits of the new album, the recording industry is abiding by one of the Beatles' early lyrics, “Give me money, that's what I want.” The longer it plunders the past as a substitute for creativity and sustained investment in fresh talent, the gloomier its future will look.

Bagism: Albums & Singles: Reviews: Double Fantasy
This album was meant to be a love story and that's exactly what it is, it's just that alot of people find it hard to relate to it possibly because not every man is married to Yoko Ono and not every woman is married to John Lennon.
I love this album and think it was a beautiful record about a marriage and family that wasn't perfect, but trying to be together and dealing with their personal frustrations and emotions as best they could.
The album improves with 'Cleanup Time', a slightly nonsensical cheery song about John and Yoko's love for each other and how while he's been at home,s he's been working ('the queen was in the counting house, the king was in the kitchen, making bread and honey').

The Phantom Tollbooth - Concert Review
In the small world of Christian Music, 1998 was a year that didn't see much in the way of exciting new bands or trends (except for the seemingly endless ska fixation that is already growing tired of repeating itself).
Of course, many curbside critics questioned the Dove Award win, because Burlap to Cashmere isn't exactly a straight-forward rock band even by their own admission (nor are they entirely comfortable with the "Christian" tag).
They opened their set with "Anybody Out There?," the hit song from the album of the same name, and followed it with the album closer, "Mansions." The first begs the question whether or not anyone takes Christ's sacrifice seriously any more.
