We are pleased to announce Gnarls Barkley was recently awarded with "Best R and B Single (Group, Band, Duo)" for Crazy at the 2007 Soul Train Awards.
Gnarls Barkley have been honored with five Grammy Award nominations, including nods in the two top categories: "Record of the Year" (for the history-making hit, "Crazy") and "Album of the Year" (for the now-classic RIAA platinum-certified debut, "ST. ELSEWHERE").
The 49th Annual Grammy Awards will take place live on Sunday, February 11th, at Los Angeles' Staples Center and will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network at 8 p.m.

Unlike the Academy Awards, for which the eligiblilty period begins January 1, the eligibility period for the Grammys begins October 1, which results in September being considered the Christmas sales period for the music industry (in which artists generally release big albums to qualify for the next year's Grammy).
So, for example, John Lennon and Yoko Ono's album Double Fantasy was released in November, 1980, a month-and-a-half too late to qualify for the 1981 Grammys, and thus eligible for the 1982 awards (it eventually won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year).

Glenn Kotche, a 1994 percussion graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Music, won a Grammy Award yesterday as a member of the Chicago-based band, Wilco.
